We are thrilled to announce that UC Irvine’s Math Community Educational Outreach (Math CEO) program has been awarded the prestigious 2025 AMS Award for an Exemplary Program in a Mathematics Department. This national award celebrates Math CEO’s remarkable dedication to empowering young students from diverse backgrounds to excel in STEM. Founded in 2014 by Professors Alessandra Pantano and Li-Sheng Tseng, Math CEO has reached over a thousand Title I middle-school students through its free, weekly math enrichment sessions, fostering mentorship, community engagement, and a love for mathematics.
Math CEO’s impact extends beyond the classroom, supporting both students and families through bilingual college readiness workshops and providing undergraduate mentors with culturally responsive teaching skills. This recognition from the AMS highlights Math CEO as a model of accessible, high-quality math education, inspiring a new generation of students to pursue their potential in STEM fields.
Congratulations to Professors Pantano, Tseng, and the entire Math CEO team for their incredible work and dedication!
