Curtis McMullen has done pioneering work in the fields of complex dynamics, hyperbolic geometry and Teichmuller theory. He is the Department Chair and the Maria Moors Cabot Professor of Mathematics at Harvard University. He has previously held positions at UC Berkeley, Princeton University, the Institute for Advanced Studies, and MIT.

Professor McMullen has received numerous honors and awards. In 1988, he received an Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship and a Presidential Young Investigator award. He was awarded a Salem Prize in 1991, the Fields Medal in 1998, and the Humboldt Research Award in 2011. He is a Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences.

Professor McMullen will give a public talk on Thursday 2/8 from 4-5 and a second talk on Friday 2/9 from 3-4.
