Congratulations to Professor Abel Klein! He has been awarded the 2016-2017 Distinguished Faculty Award for Mentorship. The award is to recognize outstanding contributions through mentoring of students or other faculty that takes place outside of a traditional teaching or research relationship and beyond their formal advising duties.
Abel’s mentees span a large range: from those at the top of the profession, in research, service/administration, or both, to those whose career either in teaching colleges or in industry is not as prominent, yet very fulfilling. He is always willing to help not only his own students and postdocs, but also other colleagues and department recruitment. At the same time he is a highly conscientious department, school, and university citizen, devoted to service, and very emotionally involved in his mentorship.
The Distinguished Faculty Awards will be presented at the Faculty Senate Awards Event scheduled to take place from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. on Monday, November 14, 2016 at the Newkirk Alumni Center. More information about the awards can be found here.
