Qing Nie, Professor of Mathematics and Biomedical Engineering, and Thomas Shilling, Professor of Developmental and Cell Biology, were recently award two National Institutes of Health (NIH) grants totalling $4.5 million to study birth defects using mathematical modeling and computation.
