Professor Lawrence C. Evans

Professor Craig Evans is a Professor of Mathematics at the University of California, Berkeley. He received his PhD from UCLA in 1975 under the direction of Professor M. Crandall. He has received numerous honors and award in recognition of his work. He was awarded the Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship in 1979. In 1986, he gave an invited address at the International Congress of Mathematicians. In 2003, he became a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He was awarded the American Mathematical Society's Leroy P. Steele Prize in 2004 for outstanding published mathematical research in partial differential equations. Professor Evans is a leader in the field of nonlinear partial differential equations and the sole author of "Partial Differential Equations", one of the most read and cited graduate texts published by the American Mathematical Society.
