Congratulations to William Yessen! He has been awarded an NSF Mathematical Sciences Postdoctoral Research Fellowship.
William is a 5th year graduate student and is a member of the mathematical physics research group at UCI. His dissertation advisor is Professor Anton Gorodetski. His research interests lie in dynamical systems (smooth dynamics, holomorphic dynamics, ergodic theory) and applications thereof in mathematical physics (mostly spectral theory and statistical mechanics). Once he graduates, William will work with Professor David Damanik at Rice University. Specifically, he will be working in mathematical physics, involving applications of dynamical systems in spectral theory and statistical mechanics.
The purpose of the Mathematical Sciences Postdoctoral Research Fellowships (MSPRF) is to support future leaders in mathematics and statistics by facilitating their participation in postdoctoral research environments that will have maximal impact on their future scientific development.
