Jerrold Marsden is currently the Carl F. Braun Professor of Engineering and Control & Dynamical Systems at Caltech. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of London. He was the SIAM von Neumann Prize winner in 2005, the winner of the Max Planck Research Award for Mathematics and Computer Science in 2000 and the recipient of the Jeffery-Williams Prize in 1981. Dr. Marsden is one of the leading authorities in mathematical and theoretical classical mechanics and has laid much of the foundation for symplectic topology.
