Isadore Singer

Professor Isadore Singer is currently an Institute Professor at MIT. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He has received numerous awards including the Bôcher Memorial Prize in 1969 and the National Medal of Science in 1983. He received the Eugene Wigner Medal in 1988 for "outstanding contributions to the understanding of physics through group theory". In 2000, Professor Singer received the Steele Prize for Lifetime Achievement from the American Mathematical Society. Most recently, he received the Abel Prize in 2004 and the James Rhyne Killian Faculty Achievement Award from MIT in 2005.
