In recognition of his outstanding efforts in mentoring undergraduate research projects, Professor John Lowengrub has been named Faculty Mentor of the Month by the UCI Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP). His profile will be featured on the UROP homepage.
Professor Lowengrub has been very active in mentoring undergraduates on their research projects. In addition to his regular teaching duties and mentoring graduate students and postdocs, he has worked with seven undergraduate students in the past five years. Three of these students were awarded funds from the UCI UROP program for their research. In 2008, Professor Lowengrub received the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Fostering Undergraduate Research.
