Christoph Marx has been awarded the prestigious Chancellor's Club for Excellence Fellowship. The purpose of the fellowships is to "recognize and reward our most academically superior doctoral students who exhibit outstanding promise as scholars, researchers and public leaders. Fellows for this program are selected on the basis of demonstrated academic excellence, accomplishments and leadership qualities consistent with the mission of the Chancellor's Club to represent, develop and support our future leaders."

Christoph is currently in his fourth year and is expecting to earn his degree in June 2012. He has already published 11 articles, some of them as the sole author. He has already received several awards, including the Graduate Dean's Dissertation Fellowship in June 2011. Throughout his time in the UCI Math Department, he has earned the following departmental awards: the Von Neumann Award for outstanding performance as a graduate student, the Connelly Award for maintaining an excellent record of teaching and research, and also an award for outstanding contributions to the Department of Mathematics. In addition to the talks he has given at UCI and other educational institutions, Christoph has been invited to speak at the 2012 Joint Mathematics Meeting in Boston in January 2012 and at the 9th AIMS Conference on Dynamical Systems, Differential Equations and Applications in Orlando in July 2012.
